Mehdiabad Mine Officially Launches Operations / Tomorrow; Iran’s Leading Lead-Zinc Mine Operations Luanch

Arya News Agency-The executional operation of Iran's largest lead and zinc mine begins tomorrow with the presence of the minister of industry, mining and commerce and the BoD chairman of IMIDRO.

According to the report of the Aryat News Agency, the contract for the investment of the lead and zinc mills of Mahdi Abad was concluded in March and the Iranian consortium, which consisted of Mobin Mining Co., Kahnerba Engineering Company, Iran Lead and Zinc Association, Copper Copper Company, Searmak Mining Co. and Aria South Co. Iranians from among the 13 applicant consortia were named as winners.

The contract for the construction of processing plants with a capacity of 800 thousand tons of zinc concentrate and 80 thousand tons of lead and silver concentrates and 180 million tons of pre-emptying operations in the first four years – which are the main goals of the project – will start. The mine, with its discoveries so far, has 160 million tons of reserves and is the first hope of zinc and lead industries in Iran to supply food.

The cost of the project is estimated at $ 1.2 billion.

Mahdi Abad mine with 21 million tons of Zinc is the third largest deposit in the world. This mine is located in the city of Mehriz, Yazd province.
