Mehdiabad Mine to officially Launch Operations

Execution of Iran's largest lead and zinc mine begins tomorrow with the presence of the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and the chairman of the IMIDRO Executive Committee.

According to the ANA's Economic Department, the Public Relations of the Organization for the Development and Renewal of Mining and Mining Industries of Iran, the investment contract for the Pb & Zn Zinc and Mahdi Abad factories was concluded in March, and an Iranian Consortium consisting of Mobin Mining Co., Kahnerba Engineering Co., Lead and Zinc Association Iran, Meshkani Copper Company, Searmak Mining Company and Aria South Iranians were among the 13 consortiums of the applicant as the winner of the call.

The contract for the construction of processing plants with a capacity of 800 thousand tons of zinc concentrate and 80 thousand tons of lead and silver concentrates and operations of 180 million tons is scheduled for the first four years, which is the main goals of the project. The mine, with its discoveries so far, has a reserve of 160 million tons and is the first hope for zinc and lead in Iran to supply feed.

The investment cost of the project is estimated at $ 1.2 billion.

Mehdi Abad mine with 21 million tons of zinc metal is considered the second largest deposit in the world. This mine is located in Mehriz city of Yazd province.
