Submission Deadline of 52-billion Tomans Guarantee for Mehdiabad Tender; September 16

As reported by Minenews, in lead and zinc Panel of Iran Basic Metals Conference, Bahram Shakoori has said the below in response to a Minenews’ reporter’s question about the status of Mehdiabad Mine Project and its tender:

– Zinc Mines Development Company also participated in Mehdiabad tender. We were interested in having them in our consortium but they participated independently due to some governmental considerations. Their price was not competitive, therefore we won the tender. Of course Mehdiabad Mine is big and we invite everyone to cooperate. Mehdiabad is such a huge opportunity that everyone can enjoy it.

– We are obliged to submit the 52-billion-Toman guarantee to IMIDRO by September 16 to make the contract enforced. The project has one year as Progress Period which will be done by getting the licenses as well as conducting the technical and economic studies.

-KDD Company is a good friend of ours but for some reason they could not continue the project and Ministry of Industry concluded that the project should be taken from them. Now there is a legal dispute between the Ministry and KDD.

-We even suggested them to cooperate with us while trying to settle their dispute with the Ministry. They have well-to-do financors that can assist us.

-In the first year, stripping and studies will be conducted at the same time. We may want to dig underground to develop the mine. The winning consortium of Mehdiabad tender is a real private, with our profit lying in fast delivery of the project.

-we have had negotiations with big international companies as well and after Mehdiabad contract comes in force, we can negotiate with them more seriously.
