Mining Operations Launched in Iran’s Largest Lead-Zinc Mine

 

The operation of the largest lead and zinc mine in Iran begins today with the presence of Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade in Yazd province.

According to the Public Relations Department of Iran Mining and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, the investment contract for the lead and zinc mills of Mehdi Abad was signed last March and an Iranian Consortium consisting of Mobin Mining Co., Kahnerba Engineering Company, Iran Lead and Zinc Co., copper company Masanki, Searmak Mining Company and Aria South Iranian Company, were among the 13 consortiums of the applicant as the winner of the call. The contract for the construction of processing plants with a capacity of 800 thousand tons of zinc concentrate and 80 thousand tons of lead and silver concentrates and operations of 180 million tons is scheduled for the first four years, which is the main goals of the project. The mine, with its discoveries so far, has a reserve of 160 million tons and is the first hope for zinc and lead in Iran to supply feed. The investment cost of the project is estimated at $ 1.2 billion.
