Mobin Consortium Wins Mehriz Mehdiabad Lead and Zinc Investment Tender

 

In a report by SobheMehriz, Bahram Shakoori pointed out that today envelopes of 3 consortiums participating in the tender were opened and said: Mobin Consortium managed to win the tender while the other two ones failed.

He added that: regarding the fact that all the three consortiums had earned enough scores in their technical evaluations of the plan, today their prices envelopes were opened, and therefore Mobin Consortium won the tender because of its pricing formula.

Shakoori held that 1.5 billion USD is required to develop Mehdiabad Lead and Zinc Mine and Plant, and explained: regarding its deposit, Mehdiabad Lead and Zinc Mine is the biggest lead and zinc mine in the world and it requires at least 4 years for pre-stripping operations equal to 185 million tonnes. At the same time the necessary permits for the project will be obtained.

He clarified that while pre-stripping is being conducted, lead and zinc concentrate production plant construction will begin; this plant is planned to produce 800k tons of zinc concentrate with minimum grade of 35% as well as 80k tons of lead concentrate with minimum grade of 60%. Also, after the fifth year on, stripping operations and extraction of the mine product will begin which will last for 20 years.

He pointed to the unprecedented volume of stripping required in mehdiabad mine, and carried on: the volume of investment required in this project is also unprecedented. Certainly the presence of an international and reputable company such as Glencore in cooperation with Mobin Consortium can help the project run better.

A total of three consortiums led by SadrTamin, Mobin Construction and Mining and Iran Zinc Mines Development Holding had participated in Mehdiabad Mine tender, where Mobin Mining Group won.
