A Private Consortium Won Mehdiabad Zinc Mine Tender

 

In an interview with Fars News Agency, Business Development Manager Mohamamd Panahi of Mobin Road Construction and Mining expressed: Mehdiabad Lead and Zinc Mine Tender was held in July participated by 8 consortiums, which was finalized by selection of a consortium led by Mobin Road Construction and Mining Company.

Having said that Mobin Road Construction and Mining Company is a totally private company, Panahi added that: this private company had already been engaged in stripping of Mehdiabad Mine there it knows the mine and its issues quite well.

He carried on to say that an investment of $1.5 billion is required to develop Mehdiabad Mine: regarding the Mine’s deposits of lead and zinc, a minimum of 4 years is required for the pre-stripping operations of 185 million tons.

Mobin Business Development Manager stated: it is planned for this processing plant to produce 800 thousand tons of zinc concentrate with a minimum grade of 35% and 80 thousand tons of lead concentrate with a minimum grade of 60%. Also, from the fifth year onwards, stripping and ore extraction operations of the mine will begin which will last for 20 years.
